Well, crap, have you read Paoloni's stuff? Brilliant example of marketing, not writing.
I haven't read Paolini's books, so I don't feel entitled to judge his literary skills.
Saw Paolini's appearance on David Letterman, though. He did well -- probably sold many more books after that appearance!
