THE STARS MY DESTINATION (1956/57) by Alfred Bester.Is this the best SF novel ever written?
I'm not sure, but it's absolutely the most entertaining one. .
The quality of the writing, and the narrative drive, is on a level that most other writers only dream of reaching (including myself). .
Alfred Bester took the silliest idea in all science fiction, "psychic powers," and built a great story with memorable characters around it. He himself claimed it was based on THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO.
You. Must. Read. This. Book.
